DZD at the Diabetes Tour in Essen on June 8th

The German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) will participate with an interactive stand at the Diabetes Tour 2013 in the Congress Center Essen (CCE South) on June 8th. Following his talk on “Diabetes Treatments – Tailored to the Individual”, Professor Karsten Müssig of the German Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf will be available at the stand for personal questions from visitors.

The experienced clinician Professor Müssig will speak in the Rheinlandhalle of the CCE South at 11:15 AM on “Diabetes Treatments – Tailored to the Individual” and will also present the multicenter clinical trials of the DZD. Among other questions, eligibility for participation in any of the trials can be clarified individually following Müssig’s talk at the DZD stand.

In an active and playful manner, the exhibit of the DZD invites visitors to learn important facts about diabetes in general and about the latest status of research. For younger visitors, there is a puzzle and an electronic pegging game. Trick mirrors that make you look fat or skinny are lots of fun but also illustrate what the physical experience is like to be obese or thin. Rounding out the offering are short videos about diabetes and the audio station with reports based on experiences of persons with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Furthermore, by taking the German Diabetes RiskTest® of the German Institute of Human Nutrition, you can determine your own individual diabetes risk in just a few minutes and get tips for reducing your risk at the same time.
