Professor Ziegler sums up the research successes of recent years, particularly with regard to early diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. The renowned diabetes researcher and director of the Institute of Diabetes Research at Helmholtz Zentrum München, a partner in the DZD, is optimistic about the future, which offers a perspective of even better and more personalized treatment options and the legitimate hope of preventing or even curing type 1 diabetes.
On May 28th the anniversary congress will begin in Berlin at which the German Diabetes Association will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its founding. Prior to the congress, the Diabetes Information Service Munich spoke with the congress president, the DZD-scientist Prof. Dr. Anette-Gabriele Ziegler.
